Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center houses three cultural organizations - the National Library of Greece, the National Opera House and the Stavros Niarchos Park. The territory of the cultural center is approximately 17 thousand m², which is surrounded on one side by an artificial canal and on the other side by a small jogging field with exercise machines and a fountain. The architectural project was initiated by the family of shipbuilding magnate Stavros Niarchos and is located on the site of the old Athens Hippodrome. Sailing events are often held here and anyone can take part in them. In the building of the cultural center there is also a recreation area and much more. The center often hosts various events, seminars and concerts. From the outside, the building impresses with its scale and design. By climbing a huge staircase or taking the elevator, you reach the roof of the park. In the park you can stroll along dozens of paths, relax in the shade of the trees and enjoy the beauty of the park. There is a huge collection of trees, shrubs and flowers from all over Greece. On the top floor of the recreation area there is a huge screen where various movies are shown during the warm season. There is a fountain in the park, where kids like to play, and other interesting game elements that not only children but also adults like to play on. In the park you can rent a bicycle and ride it around the park or along the promenade, crossing the bridge you get to the marina Flisva, which is full of bars, cafés and luxury yachts.
