Epta Piges

Epta pyges means seven springs in Greek. It is an oasis surrounded by lush vegetation and bubbling waters. It is home to peacocks and ducks, and the peacocks often visit the local restaurant for a tasty treat. From the springs, the water is transformed into a small stream, which flows through a narrow tunnel into a small lake. In the middle of the tunnel is a well that serves as a skylight and air duct, and it is 13 meters deep. Walking through a dark tunnel on foot in flowing fresh water is exciting, but don't attempt it if you are claustrophobic. As an alternative route, you can simply follow the trail leading to the lake. The tunnel was built by the Italians in the 1920s to facilitate the pumping of water into the artificial lake. The goal of the Italians was to build a dam, to bring water to Colimbia, a former agricultural village. The lake has a depth of 1 to 8 meters and a length of about 200 meters. It is the only place on the island where you can swim in fresh water, the road to this place passes through a gorge with green plane trees and pine trees. The lake is inhabited by "Gizani" a rare species of fish, crabs, peacocks, ducks, geese and turtles. In this place you can wander along paths and bridges, enjoying the coolness of stone channels and a small waterfall.
