Edessa Waterfalls

The city of Edessa is the Venice of Greece, with canals and marvelous bridges. Four rivers cross the city before flowing to the 12 waterfalls on its outskirts. Until the late 14th century, the bulk of the water was concentrated in a small lake west of the city. After a geological phenomenon, the water flowed through the city and upon reaching the outskirts of the city, formed beautiful waterfalls. This led to the formation of many small rivers and at the same time the disappearance of the lake. The most impressive waterfall Karanosili or Karanos, one of the largest waterfalls in Greece, reaching a height of 70 meters, as it falls the water disperses and creates a dense wet cloud. Behind the huge water curtain is a balcony that offers a beautiful view. At the foot of the large waterfall hides a small cave, with impressive stalactites. Just below is the double Lambda waterfall, whose waters gush from the peaks and split into two beautiful waterfalls.
