Keri Caves

The caves were named after the tall, white, oddly shaped rocks that resemble candles. They are located near Cape Marathias, also known as Keri Akrotiri, which is a deep gorge with small beaches between the cliffs and the caves. The caves are a rare phenomenon, where many grottoes and bizarre caves form in the sheer cliffs. Some of them are big enough and with a small boat you can view this beauty from inside, while others are only accessible to divers and people who swim well underwater. The caves are home to various species of animals such as bats, seals, Loggerhead turtles, and various species of fish. The caves are inaccessible from land, but only from the sea by boat or tour boat. Nearby there are several cozy taverns, from where you can enjoy magnificent sunsets. There are also two white cliffs of Mizitres rising out of the water between the lighthouse and the cape.
