The Vatilimnos Waterfall is located on the island of Lesvos in the north-western part of the island, between the picturesque villages of Chidera and Pterounda. The waters of the waterfall originate in a black but charming pine forest, in the 799 meter high mountain range of Profitis Ilias. The height of the waterfalls is low, but small lakes form at the foot of the falls, where you can swim. The Vatilimnos waterfall on the island was formed between volcanic lava fractures, which are approximately 16.5 to 21.5 million years old.
