Livaditi waterfall

Paranesti, Greece

Trakhoni or Livaditi waterfall

One of the most impressive waterfalls in Rodopi, with a colorful landscape and rich vegetation. The waterfall is the largest in the Balkans in terms of water volume. It is well hidden at the western foot of Mount Kula and is located in a difficult but beautiful place at an altitude of 890 meters. The waterfall is located on the small river Milopotamos north of the village of Livaditi. Falling from a height of about 40 meters, the water hits the rocks vertically, creating the appearance of a spider web. The water has created an impressive passage in the rock next to the waterfall, which looks like a huge relief spiral. And if you go downstream, you can see many rare plants and animals. The area is characterized by intense relief rocks, lush vegetation and water bodies. The spacious area offers opportunities for outdoor picnics and recreation. The best time to visit the waterfall is the coldest days of winter, when the water freezes and creates a huge crystal sculpture. In the spring and early summer, you can see the large and turbulent flow of water.
