Beregvar Castle

Beregvar Castle, or as it is also known as the Castle of the Counts of Schönborn, it is famous for being filmed in the movies "The Snow Queen" and "Seventeen Moments of Spring". The castle was built in the late 19th century in a neo-Romantic style, but on the astronomical principle, with 365 windows and 52 chimneys symbolizing the days and weeks of the year. The number of entrances corresponds to the months and the corner towers to the seasons, the walls are decorated with bas-reliefs symbolizing the Count's family and the stained glass windows illustrate the history of the castle. Around the castle there is an English park with Japanese Sakura, magnolias and other exotic plants. A special feature of the park are sculptures of animals hunted by the owners of the castle. The castle is covered with numerous legends, including the story of the "Source of Beauty", if you dip in the spring or wash your face, the skin for a long time retained a pleasant color, tenderness, elasticity and velvet. Nearby, there is a decorative lake in the shape of a heart, which according to legend symbolizes the marriage proposal of the first owner of the castle.
