Platys Gialos beach

Platis Yalos beach is a natural extension of Makris Yalos beach, they are separated by a couple of rocks that close the access from one beach to the other. It is a sandy beach with fine light colored sand, not too big in length but very big in width. The bottom is sandy and not deep, but the water is always cool and crystal clear, which has a blue-green hue. The beach is organized with umbrellas and deck chairs, although it attracts a lot of visitors, but it is not as popular as Makris Yalos. It is chosen by those who prefer a more secluded atmosphere and a quieter vacation. But the fun-loving youngsters usually prefer Makris Yalos beach. The beach is located in the district of Lassi, 3 km from the capital of the island, Argostoli. At Platis Yalos beach there is the terminus of the city bus that connects the beach with the center of Argostoli, the bus runs only during the tourist season.
