The ancient house and Hippocrates Garden

The cultural center of the ancient "Hippocrates Garden" is located in Mastihari on the island of Kos and is an exact replica of the ancient Greek settlement from the 5th century BCE. It specializes in illuminating ancient Greek lifestyle during the time of the great Greek physician Hippocrates. It consists of a House replicating the exact time period, a Philosophical Gallery, a Stone Theater, a Herb Garden, the Demeter Museum showcasing agricultural tools, an Incubator, a Temple, and a Vineyard. The creation of the center is aimed at acquainting visitors with the philosophical and spiritual quests of ancient Greeks, but primarily with the medical art of that time. The house consists of two floors and is built of stone, with a wooden roof adorned with old tiles, and handmade furniture replicas from that era. Daily seminars on culinary arts, ceramics, philosophy, baking, agriculture, and mosaic are held in the house. The philosophical gallery, also constructed according to the standards of the time, with handmade stone floors and relief copies on the walls, houses art pieces and a library. In the garden, there is a stone theater with a capacity of 80 people, where performances take place. This place is not a museum, so you can participate in any of the events. You can take a walk through the garden, where herbs, wild cedars, grapevines, and fruit trees blend harmoniously with each other. Explore organic farming, viticulture, or simply relax your mind and body in an environment that has undergone minimal surgical intervention. The land around the center serves as a sanctuary for wildlife, and the existing crops are organic. Our center is dedicated to the genius of Greek philosophers, and our goal is to collectively explore modern paths through their teachings that will lead us a little deeper into the essence of life and the realization of the need to protect nature. Daily seminars and symposiums are dedicated to this purpose.
