Kaminia Beach

One of the largest sandy beaches of Kefalonia is located in the southern part of the island, near the village of Ratzakli. From the beach you can see the island of Zakynthos, and its fine light sand and relatively warm waters attract many vacationers throughout the summer. The beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, and there are always many vacationers on the beach. Loggerhead turtles lay their eggs on the beach and these places are fenced with ribbons. On the small sandy beach of Munda, you can see turtles hatching from their eggs and running towards the sea. The beach was named Kaminia because of the old pottery kilns that existed here, mainly in the 19th century. The local clay was used to make pottery, which was used to supply the whole island of Kefalonia and the neighboring islands.
