Assos Beach

The beach of Assos is located in the village of Assos, one of the most beautiful villages of Kefalonia, where you can enjoy swimming right in front of the beautiful houses. The place is like a fairy tale, because being in the sea you have a colorful fan unfolding in front of your eyes. Built in an amphitheater around the peninsula, the village is surrounded by a beautiful green landscape and forest. Pine trees, cypresses with crystal clear blue sea. The village seems lost in time, but the traditional Ionian architecture opens up in front of you. Beautiful colorful houses perched on a steep hillside fill the landscape with flowers and green trees.

In the small harbor you can see fishing boats and luxury yachts, and the small square of the village has several taverns and restaurants. At the end of the 15th century, the Venetian army built a castle to protect the inhabitants from pirate raids. The fortress was of great strategic importance and made Assos the capital of the northern part of the island. Nowadays, only the ruins of the walls and other parts of the castle remain, as well as the church of St. Mark. At Assos beach you have the opportunity to rent a boat and walk around the surrounding coves, which can only be reached by sea. You can go fishing with local fishermen or do water sports on speedboats.
