Fanari beach is sandy and shallow, but because it is windy it is favored by lovers of water sports such as surfing. The beach is not organized, but it is preferred by families with small children, who can play here with sand and water in relative safety. The beach is located next to the lighthouse of Agios Theodoros built by the British Governor Napier. He also built other facilities on the island, such as the Devossetou Bridge, which connects Argostoli with the opposite shore of the bay. Just below is Catavotres, one of the strange geological phenomena of the island. The beach is located 1.5 km away from the capital of Kefalonia and can be reached by taking the road known as the "Lassi tour", an affluent suburb of Argostoli.
